If you have a certificate issued within the last 3 years then you can take a refresher course. Check the date in section 4 of your certificate. If that date is less than 3 years old then you are within the grace period that MSHA gives you.
If the date is more than 3 years old, then you will have to repeat new miner training.
This grace period is for Part 46 and Part 48 certifications.
Note: If your last certificate was for Part 48 New Miner and there is no date in section 4, then we go by the date in section 8.
